Waiter Stabbed at Cape May Incident Sparks Outcry

Mail pouch found sunk with letters in river near Vincennes
A St Louis to Boston through mail dated January 26, found yesterday by a ferryman sunk in the river with eight or ten bricks. The pouch was rifled and opened elsewhere, with letters fragments proving the date. The route had no agent protection and mails were not received at the office here for over a year.
