Disorder in Seville Dominated by Gitanos Killings Riot
A Madrid letter reports July 2nd disorder in Seville after gitanos decided June 28th to kill the first passerby. A laborer was stabbed to death as others attacked. Soldiers arrested the attackers and moved them to prison. Rioters clashed, seven or eight gitanos killed and fifteen to eighteen wounded on both sides. The prison is now heavily guarded.

Fatal affray at Oakland Races in Jefferson County Kentucky
In Jefferson County Kentucky on the afternoon of the 4th Edmond Shipp was killed in a duel with William Walker and Hercules Walker at Oakland Races following a private dispute. Shipp was stabbed five times and Walker was wounded. Hercules Walker was shot in the spine and in critical condition. A Shipp ally fired the pistol shot.

During the Wednesday storm gunners from Baltimore sheltered in a burthen car on a siding near Four Mile House. The car blew onto the main track, and the men used lanterns to signal in both directions. They halted the Ellicott's Mills train with passengers, then moved the stray car aside to avert danger.
