Marines Land at Havana To Protect the Treasury
Havana reports that American Marines landed at the Captain of the Port’s wharf and moved to guard the Treasury Building as Taft prepares to be provisional military governor. Plans include occupation tomorrow and Camp Columbia barracks setting. Provisional authority will appoint Beckman Winthro to civil govern Cuba from the Legation.

Cincinnati Receives Million From Government Deposits
A telegram to President Charles A. Hinsch of the Fifth National Bank announced by Secretary Shaw that Cincinnati will receive 1,000,000 of the 26,000,000 to be placed in depository banks nationwide, with ten city banks each receiving 100,000 after efforts by Hinsch, Senator Foraker, and Representative Longworth.

In Pomeroy Ohio on September 8 the private bank of E C Fox collapsed prompting arson fears as William Horden tried to shoot the banker Thomas Armentrout was arrested and cash and assets valued at 115000 were missing Fox remains at large in Toronto Ontario with bonds mortgaged assets in the building. Depositors mostly poor hold small savings and face loss as the bank’s assets are inspected and an assignee takes over.

Plot Uncovered Near Peterhof Palace Threatening Emperor
In St Petersburg on September 28 two armed terrorists a man and a woman were arrested inside the Alexandria Palace grounds at Peterhof the imperial summer residence. A servant's son and a lackey Klepnikoff were also arrested for helping smuggle and hide the terrorists. The plot aimed to ambush Emperor Nicholas as he walked or played with his children.
