French Vessel Navarre Founders Off Cape Race

Grace Sterling Countess Mankowski wife of Count Casimir Ignace Mankowski and daughter of shoe blacking magnate John M. Bixby was ruled insane and incapable of managing her fortune valued at several hundred thousand dollars by a Sheriff’s jury and a Supreme Court commissioned panel. She married in 1879, lived in England, and had periods of confinement before returning to London with her husband. she was brought to New York on September 8 for a sanity proceeding.
