Acres of meadow burn near Lexington from locomotive sparks
Sparks from a Cincinnati Southern locomotive set meadowland on fire six miles east of Lexington. The blaze destroyed six hay stacks one straw rick and two miles of fencing. Tragic Cedar County Murder Suicide Shocks Carroll
In Carroll Iowa Sept 27 a German farming family near eight miles northwest was slain by husband and father John Boecker who then killed himself. He borrowed a pistol last Thursday to kill rats and practiced shooting. The mother and six children aged 14 to infant were killed with a shotgun and revolver.
