Dr Lucellus Hussey, 72, of near Lockland, died instantly when a northbound passenger train struck his buggy after a stop at the Frederick Distilling Company crossing. Ephraim Herrington, Hussey’s farm overseer, was badly injured but survived. Two Frederick Distilling Company workers witnessed the crash as the horse was thrown aside.
