Tragic River Trip Ends in Death of Father and Child
In Wheeling West Virginia on September 24 Thomas Willard a 28 year old bricklayer at Standard Iron and Steel spurred a drunken spree. He took his seven year old son and two neighbor children to the river where the boat overturned after he rocked it. Willard drowned and Mary Milbert a twelve year old girl also drowned. Willard’s boy was saved by James McGrail while Mary Gray of Bellaire was among those invited to go along. The bodies of Willard and Miss Milbert were recovered about an hour later.

Yale Student Eugene C. Gregory Dies in New York
Eugene C. Gregory, Yale student, was found dead at his Irvington-on-the-Hudson family residence in New York City. He died by inhaling illuminating gas with a tube attached to a bathroom fixture, reportedly having left the family summer home last Monday and was due back at Yale today. His father discovered the scene when he came to find him. The house was filled with gas and Gregory is believed to have died earlier that week.
