John McDougall of Toronto died at the Isolation Station on the Almshouse grounds from yellow fever. He had left Mobile September 9 and was in Louisville seeking marriage, taking ill at the Victoria Hotel before being moved for care. Authorities say there is little fear of spread and precautions were taken with his sweetheart and attendants.
Secretary Probst of the State Board of Health says there is no danger of yellow fever in Cincinnati and quarantine is unnecessary. The statement comes as health officials assess regional risks amid the current outbreak conditions.
Hopkinsville Ky Sept 23 There is intense excitement in western Hopkins County over a yellow fever case at Gracy station nine miles west of Hopkinsville Henry Clardy son of James Clardy a wealthy Gracy resident arrived several days ago ill from Mobile His illness is labeled yellow fever by doctors though mild and measures to prevent spread will be taken
New Orleans fever report shows fewer new cases but one additional death in the last twenty four hours. Authorities list patients in dangerous condition and name Marie Dubois a three year old among recent deaths along with several new cases on streets and districts.
A fourteen year old girl living north of Dayton, Colorado, was accidentally shot in the right thigh when her brother Walter fired a shotgun through a doorway at a supposed tramp seeking food. Nine buckshot were recovered and the girl is not seriously wounded. The event occurred Sept. 23 and the family resides on Lukas Dayton.
The USS San Francisco, flagship of the European squadron, departed Tangier after arriving to seek redress for alleged flogging of American citizens at Mogador and to press settlement of US claims against Morocco. If not settled soon, a US squadron may sail to Morocco.

St Louis extortionate interest concerns spur plans for a chattel bank with $50,000 capital. A September 29 meeting in Merchants Exchange aims to establish a state authorized loan bank mirroring New York and Boston banks. Loans would cap at 1 percent monthly, with profits guiding rate reductions.
A Cleveland or Columbus report says Allen O. Myers stands firm in Columbus with McLean backing. Horace L. Chapman and ex-Congressmen Towne and Tarsney lead remonstrances but fear no retreat from Myers who claims to stay put and to reveal if fired.
Lieutenant R B Peary and party arrive in Boston from Sydney with wife daughter C I Baldwin and Arthur Moore. They head to New York by midnight train. Peary says discovering the Greely expedition rules is most important and describes a 12 by 8 foot meteorite weighing about one hundred tons with composition akin to plate armor steel used on US ships.
Suit was filed in the United States Court against the South Omaha Live Stock Exchange and its 20 members. General McKenna approves action that could yield a perpetual injunction preventing business on the exchange. Summons to be served on members tomorrow.
Six people were seriously hurt when a gasoline barrel exploded during a blaze at S. C. McCardell's grocery at Third and Pennsylvania in Chester. The injured include J. N. Shanafelt Jr Frank Coburn Edward McGarry Robert Elliott John S McLurg and Jacob Bauer. Firemen among the injured were rushed to hospital in serious condition.
John Wilson committed suicide at noon, shooting himself through the breast with a thirty-eight caliber revolver. He had worked in the Louisville and Nashville Railroad office here for months before losing his job and was in poor health and despondent. A bottle of laudanum was found in his pocket.
Cincinnati despatch reports burglar Zim Anderson recovering in a Columbus hospital after typhoid fever. He had been near death but is now believed to recover. Anderson, from Hamilton County, is serving a seven year sentence for burglary and larceny.
Parkersburg West Virginia Sept 23 Allen C Murdock of Murdock Drug Company was caught by a foot in an elevator and carried head down nearly a story for almost an hour. Rescue required tearing away flooring to free him. Doctors fear amputation of the foot.
Chicago defense in the Luetgert case produced testimony that Louise Luetgert was seen alive in Wisconsin. Bartender Matt J Sholey said a strange woman at the Hotel Maple in Kenosha on May 3 asked for Mueller farm directions and he later identified Mrs Luetgert's photo as resembling the visitor. Police officer Henry Feldshaw also testified seeing a blonde woman at the Kenosha station then at the Hotel Maple and a rail station the next day, who matched Mrs Luetgert’s picture.
Mrs Lulu Jenkins charged with harboring stolen goods was dismissed by Prosecutor Connelly. The grand jury probing the late lynching was discharged by Judge New with nothing accomplished.
FRANKFORT Kentucky September 2 reports say Dr Hunter will decline the Guatemalan mission and seek the Surveyorship of the Louisville port backed by Senator Deboe. His supporters claim he will take the port post with a $4000 salary rather than the $10000 portfolio to stay in Kentucky.
A September 23 Bainbridge blaze started by boys with matches at Perris Brown's general store spread to Beardsley's drug store where a gasoline tank exploded. Two men died Beardsley and Higgins eight injured and many buildings including the Methodist church and other shops were destroyed. Fire crews from nearby towns aided but the town lacked protection.
