Butler County seat May Commission reports a municipal electric plant expansion with the gas company planning an entry into Hamilton and several nearby cities. The move signals a shift toward public utility competition and potential rate implications for residents.
The Union Gas and Electric Company closed several contracts to supply electric current outside Cincinnati, threatening to injure Hamilton’s municipally owned plant. The deal with the Ohio Gas and Electric Company through the Hamilton Utilities Company covers delivery at Cincinnati city limits with Hamilton as distributor. Union’s president said the company’s obligation ends at furnishing current, while Hamilton Utilities holds the local franchise and may abandon parts of its plant.

G A Stuffer of the State Agricultural Board recommended C H Allen of Toledo be placed in charge of the Federal Rural Credit Loan Bank to be established in the region. The Federal Farm Credit Board meets September 27. Stuffer urged Ohio Indiana and Michigan form one district due to similar agricultural interests.
Theodore Roosevelt and William H Taft, once rivals for the presidency, will attend a reception at the Union League Club on October 3. Charlie Hughes will be guest of honor. The meeting aims to symbolize a reunited party and ends a long period since their last real contact in September 1910 when Roosevelt visited Taft in Beverly after Africa trip.
