Gallant Medal Winner Doherty Ends Life At Ft Thomas
Despondent over lost prestige and amid heavy drinking Acting Drum Major Thomas M Doherty of the Fourth United States Infantry at Ft Thomas shot himself in a shed behind Jacobi's saloon on the Midway. A Medal of Honor recipient for San Juan Hill he had been reduced from Color Sergeant to Acting Drum Major and sent to Cork, Ireland, for his medal. He will be buried with full military honors at Evergreen Cemetery.

Twelve people are dead and many more are hurt as factories warehouses and hotels are wrecked. Three Killed by Bomb Explosion in Tiflis and St. Petersburg

Husband Killed Attacking Wife in Lafayette Saloon
In Lafayette Indiana Charles Lawson was shot and killed by his wife Mrs Charles Lawson after a quarrel at the central city saloon. Mrs Lawson and her young daughter were present when four shots were fired three hitting Lawson. He died en route to a hospital and Mrs Lawson was arrested for murder.
