Emancipation Day Celebration in Springfield New Jersey
Emancipation Day was observed at the home of President Lincoln in Springfield New Jersey with a large parade and festivities. Man Sentenced for Life in Whitley County Murder
Ed Warner, convicted in Columbia City Circle Court of murder in the first degree, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the May killing of his brother-in-law Frank Badger in Whitley County. Warner, brother of Mrs. Frank Badger, had threatened to shoot Frank during a feud with Frank and Hodge Badger. he hid in the woods and opened fire, killing Frank and wounding Hodge.
