Mack Hurst a fifty year old stone mason killed himself and his teenage daughter Maude in an early morning dynamite blast at his home in Bloomington Indiana He had been separated from his wife who refused to live with him again and he aimed to wipe out his wife and eight children Two other children were injured while the wife survived and four sticks of dynamite remained unexploded as investigators inspected the ruins The blast rallied the city as police and the fire department recovered the injured and cleared debris
Reports from St Johns New Foundland state Marie Peary daughter of Rear Admiral Peary is engaged to Donald MacMillan who joined Peary on his Arctic dash. Peary named her the little snow bird for being born farther north than any white child. MacMillan heads the Crocker Land expedition aiming for a three year polar voyage. The Diana wrecked off Labrador delayed the team at Flagler bay.
Maitre Fernand Labori of Paris, key advocate in freeing Dreyfus, is ill in Boston with appendicitis after attending the American Bar Association meeting in Montreal.
