Man Buried Alive Eight Minutes in Newport Trench
Charles Hoffman and his son Clarence Huffman were buried up to their necks in a ten foot trench in Newport while digging for sewer lines. After eight minutes, neighbors freed them. Hoffman escaped with no injuries, Clarence was bruised. A spectator alerted the fire department, but responders arrived too late to help.
