Desperate attack on Daniel O Dowd follows elopement
After Mamie Mullen and Daniel O Dowd eloped last December the couple faced renewed conflict. James Connelly and Albert Vincent Doty fired on O Dowd near Union Stockyards. Doty was struck and Connelly fled. Police rescued Doty. all three were detained and later released on bond. O Dowd, 25, in the coal business, was wounded in the hand and defended his wife against alleged abuse by her father, Michael Mullen, who denied knowledge of the attack and expressed regret.
