In a 1910 account, Stefansson describes the main goal of locating Eskimos with no white contact. The party travels from New York via Winnipeg and Mackenzie River toward Coronation Gulf, facing shortages and harsh conditions.
Des Moines reports Sidna Allen and Edward Edwards, linked to the March Virginia courthouse shooting that killed Judge Massie, were captured in Des Moines after a love affair led detectives to them. Henry Wernsing a one armed balloonist died when his parachute dropped from 1200 feet and was blown into the side of a Union Hill Schoolhouse New Jersey during a picnic. His bride and his mother and brother were among the witnesses.
John Bt Clair, a Boston aviator, fell during an exhibition flight at a Leetonia carnival. He struck a naked electric wire carrying 2,200 volts, broke his fall. He was placed on a train and moved to a hospital in Pittsburgh.
Special from Tarrytown reports John D. Rockefeller bought 5000 acres at Pocantico Hills to find snakes infesting the land. He posted a notice paying 25 cents per snake skin to workers, spurring some to hunt snakes while others sought hatcheries. Superintendent Briggs grew wary as traps revealed workers’ manipulation.
