In Pittsburgh area a Pennsylvania Railroad express struck a fleeing youths' car after they ran a red signal. R. G. Baggus, 20, died instantly and Arthur Stringer, 18, died later at a hospital. Both residents of Pittsburgh. the collision occurred at Parnassus, a suburb.

In Ocean City New Jersey on September 12 a 17 year old boy Thorn Henderson and his 16 year old sister Edith swam fully clothed three miles to shore to summon aid for seven men clinging to an overturned fishing boat. Guards launched three motor boats and rescued all seven men. Edith encouraged the rescue despite exhaustion and swam ahead to direct responders.
The Turkish Ambassador to France was summoned by Premier Poincare who warned France will not tolerate further delay in releasing Lieut. Desmons held in Constantinople for damage to a Turkish collier. If not freed immediately Paris will revoke the ambassador’s passport and sever diplomatic ties. Desmons has been held and questioned in Constantinople with a court declining bail.
Police arrest Early White, 28, after recognizing him as a member of the buggy shooting party from a decade ago. Charles Kneisel and William Knight identify White in a Cumminsville area probe that connects him to multiple recent robberies, including a belt and $5 taken from Louis Patten and a taxicab driver assault on August 2.
