The Galisteo Company syndicate bought the former New Mexico Mining Company property for 3 million dollars.
A head on collision on the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad at Tiona to Gay, seventy miles east of PRIE, Pa, killed engineer H. J. Gerlach of Erie. Injured were fireman W. G. Schaeff of Erie who will die, brakemen John Fahey of Erie and J. K. Neil, both badly bruised.

Charles Dumont, a fugitive burglar with two prior penitentiary terms, was shot and fatally wounded during a resistance arrest at Harrison and Poplar in Flytown Columbus. Detective Abe Kleeman and Patrolman George Gaston were wounded in a gunfight. Dumont died at Protestant Hospital at 10:30 pm.
Senator Chauncey M. Depew held a notable dinner in Newport Rhode Island on September 10 in honor of Prince Cantacuzene of Russia and his fiancee Miss Julia Dent Grant. Guests included Reginald Tower Baron Herman Henry Clews Lady Bache Cunard Senator Wetmore Miss Daisy Post Mrs Williams and several others.

Fishermen on an East River boat report a man leapt from a bridge at 8:30 this morning. A wagon driver found a hat coat and shoes in his vehicle and could not locate the jumper. Police have not traced the mysterious man.
In Honolulu on September 10 two customs guards recovered 112 half pound tins of opium sunk in the sea. The drugs were attached to a rope and block of wood, abandoned by China side smugglers with local accomplices.
A special committee left Chicago for Quebec to invite the Governor General and Cabinet to the fall festival. The invitation mirrors those given to President McKinley. mayors of Quebec and Ottawa will also be asked to attend.
Mrs Mary Gallagher wife of Felix Gallagher mill man Port Perry killed herself and their three children with laudanum last night. The four month old baby died today while two daughters ages 5 and 7 are expected to recover.
