Albert Dolloff one of four Ohio Penitentiary escapees was shot and killed by Marshal Ralph Christler near the Columbus Reserve Depot. The remaining three fugitives Tony Ammerbach William McKinley Harris and Joseph Carney fled into a cornfield as airplanes scouted the area. Dolloff’s mother Mrs Elmer Dolloff of Pittsburgh sent a letter promising a visit with his three year old sister next Wednesday.
New York reports traders upbeat as reconstruction hopes support Europe and US markets. Demand rises for artificial silk and cotton while rice and tea stay firmer, with steel copper and tin expected to rise as Japan rebounds. Marine insurance losses loom, but overall outlook remains hopeful.
