A massacre began at 8 o'clock Saturday night as troops attacked civilians in Siedlice, Russian Poland. Police and soldiers slaughtered both Christians and Jews, with hundreds killed or wounded and three streets devastated. Soldiers have surrounded the city and deny entry.
In Siedlice terrorists killed two soldiers at a government alcohol store. A detachment fired into a crowd, killing two and wounding two. Later troops attacked Jewish quarters, burning houses and shops. Over 100 killed or wounded as order struggles to return.
Dominiar Gomez told a Manila rally that England France and Germany would recognize a Filipino republic. He said funds collected were sent by cable to Europe to build support and that favorable replies were received. Gomez was jailed on slander charges against Gov Orden Callies and released on bail.
At the Hotel Palais in San Sebastian the Marquis Viana master of horse and Duke Andria dueled with sabers at dawn after a heated dispute over a trifling matter. The Marquis was cut on the head and the seconds intervened to stop the fight. The Marquis had handed in his resignation to the King beforehand.
San Francisco dispatch reports a man calling himself James MacAuley arrested on suspicion of being Pat Kelley, sought in New York for homicide. Kelley, a former motorman on an elevated line, allegedly caused multiple deaths on September 5, 1905 by colliding with an open switch.
In a fire near the Continental breaker in Scranton Pennsylvania Nettie and Emily Smith were burned to death Their father Fred Smith was listed in serious condition at a local hospital after the blaze broke out today authorities said the fire caused extensive damage to the site.
In New York Colonel Aguirre announced Cassilly Cook as chief counsel for the Cuban Junta and revolutionary party. The plan calls for a bloodless end to the revolution, arbitration on Palma election legality, and involving British German Canadian and North American capital to support the process. Cook, a former Cincinnati captain in the Spanish War, served under General Wood during occupation days.

A fire at the Sumter Lumber Company planing mill in Sumter South Carolina caused an estimated loss around 100000 dollars. More than 1500000 feet of lumber burned and flames spread to other piles with several loaded box cars in jeopardy. Several houses were burned as well.
