Otto Armleder announces Cincinnati Fall Festival’s opening inviting the nation. The festival promises the best Queen City industries display yet with clean educational attractions and elimination of fake features. Public approval or condemnation rests with attendees.
Thomas Steers a Covington Republican leader was shot twice by Lawrence Hardin in self defense amid jealousy over a woman. Steers died from a through-and-through wound affecting the spinal column. Hardin and his brother Sherman were arrested after the incident in Covington near 22 Russell Street.
Directors report finished work ready for public view as soldiers guard Washington Park. The Fall Festival of 1908 aims to break attendance records, with Miss Marguerite Millikin to press the opening button at 10 o clock and promises a festival of remarkable displays and progressive spirit.

An explosion at 5 o'clock this afternoon at the Bessemer steel plant of the Republic Iron and Steel Company in Youngstown Ohio fatally scalded two employees and seriously burned two others. Fatally injured were Jas Matthews master mechanic and Peter O’Hara, both burned about the chest face and hands. Seriously injured were John Elliott and El Powell, both mechanics. The victims were repairing a pit under a steam separator when the valve blew. Property loss not over $10.
