Beaufort, Morehead City, Washington, and other towns suffer widespread destruction and flooding. Washington and Bell Haven wiped out. Beaufort County damage exceeds 2 million. New Bern losses exceed 600 thousand. Destruction includes two long railroad bridges washed away and fires sparked by the tempest.
A Hartford accident involving George M. Cohan and his daughter Georgette injuries from a turnpike collision. Georgette suffers a skull-base fracture. Cohan and Wallace Eddinger, Francis X.
