Eight Frenchmen killed seventeen wounded near Casablanca as Moors under General Drude press the French camp. Major Prevost and Lieutenant Benizzas among the dead after a seven hour clash. French artillery and cavalry repulse repeated Moor assaults amid chants from the Koran.
The famed artist Earle faced a hostile crowd in Monroe New York as a woman identified as Julia Kuttner, said to be his runaway wife’s companion, fled after an afternoon clash. Police intervened protecting Earle while coachman Thomas Ryan and bystanders helped repel attackers in a thunderstorm. Earle escaped without injury. the crowd shouted hang him while he pressed on to his carriage.

Laura M. Carter, indicted for complicity with Chester L. Runyan in absconding with about 97 000 from Windsor Trust, testified in her own defense denying intentional participation and claiming Runyan had threatened to kill her if exposed. Defense opened with Alfred Linn and Henry M. Goldfogle presenting the case as court reopened.
Miss Eleanor Long of Delaware and Kasota avenues was hurled from a runabout after her mother alighted near May and Oak streets. She sustained a compound fracture of the right arm and severe scratches and bruises while the horse bolted and struck a tree.
