Two armed men entered the Western and Southern Life Insurance branch office on the third floor in Detroit and bound twenty nine men and two women with rope. They looted about $1000 in cash and checks before fleeing in an automobile after the robbery. The victims, mostly salesmen, had just listened to a sales presentation and were about to leave. The incident occurred in a building located at North Street and Broadway.

At Ethel Mississippi on October 30 a steam boiler exploded at the O E Mc Daniel Planing Mill.
