William Rohan alias Skippy Ryan, a fled criminal wanted in St. Louis, was fatally wounded after a long chase with Detective Howard on Chicago’s West Side. Rohan fired on the officer, fled in a milk wagon and an express wagon, before Howard shot him in the abdomen as a crowd watched.
