Fred Woodcock of Malvern reports a powerful tornado swept the eastern Jefferson County area near Sherrill on the Alabama branch. The storm carved a 100 to 200 yard wide path, leveling barns houses fences stock and trees. Seventeen injured reported with no fatalities confirmed yet.

An official dispatch from Antananarivo reports the Minister of the Interior Rainauderianaupau dry and Prince Ratsanga executed for involvement in the rebellion. The dispatch notes the executions occurred at the capital city of Madagascar.
Edmund Rose, a fifteen year old office boy, stole from Hyman & Jacobus lawyers in Nassau Street using forged checks. He kept a diary noting each act and always claiming to have slept well. The diary shows about $25 embezzled before he was allowed to leave New York.
