Vice Mayor Pfaff and Mayor Dempsey addressed about 6 000 at Music Hall in a pre election meeting. Pfaff pledged midnight saloon closing and businesslike city governance with playgrounds and school improvements. He declared he would not be controlled by any party or boss if elected.

Diocesan sels receive seats and voting rights in the House of Bishops with status defined by demand. Some dioceses may request Negro bishops to serve, giving immediate control to 76 6 dioceses where they work.

A mob of about two hundred men stormed Hartwell jail at 9 30 pm seizing William Gray the Black suspect in the coal merchant H W Howard murder. Officers intervened and Gray was taken to Hamilton County Jail for safety as a second mob pursued Cavaliere to Wyoming Lockland.
The Congregational National Council in Cleveland urged higher salaries for ministers to counter the decline in young men entering the ministry amid temptations of commercial life. The Rev. Dr. C. of Illinois warned the pursuit of money draws men away from a precarious vocation.
