An accident at a curve on Werk road near Harrison Avenue in Huntington leaves one killed and several injured. Victims include Hazel Kelly, 22, skull crushed. Emily Smith, 32, skull fracture. Ralph Hayhon, 26, crushed leg. Regina Cain, 23, scalp lacerations. Driver Hubert Rochhold, 25, is charged with manslaughter. bystanders blame him for not slowing down. Witnesses recall warnings to reduce speed before the crash.

In Florence on October 13 two American residents Misses Janet and Mary Buttles received the silver medal of merit from the Prefect for organizing a summer camp for children and contributing to public health. The honor, ordered by royal decree from the Ministry of the Interior, honors their charitable work. They are believed to be daughters of the late Mrs Mary Elizabeth Ridgway Buttles of Columbus, who lived in Florence for fourteen years and died in 1910 after active charity work there.

Ishbel MacDonald and her father the British prime minister enjoyed a quiet outing in Connecticut and Westchester. The pair, guests of Miss Lillian Wald at The House on the Pond in Westport, lunched privately and rode through the hills before tea in White Plains and return to New York.
A jug of gasoline broke during a fight and ignited a two story brick building at 513 Carlisle rest. George Washington, occupant, suffered burns to his feet as Mary Cummings, 19, also at the address, was injured. Both were held on suspicion as investigators assessed $200 in interior damage.
Cleveland, Oct. 12. Mrs. Anna Szeman faces sentencing after a jury convicted her of second degree murder in the stabbing death of Cleveland society matron Mrs. Dorothy M. Snyder at her home on May 31. The verdict was returned after six hours of deliberation and the judge must decide whether the sentence will be definite life imprisonment or an indeterminate term.
John Schroeder a night watchman at Sam Miller’s waste paper warehouse at 324 326 East Second Street faced investigation after a blaze destroyed the four story brick building. The fire caused about 25000 in damage with half covered by insurance. Schroeder admitted drinking with a companion and was detained for inquiry. A man named Dick is missing. Firemen fought flames from 2 31 to 11 Sunday morning as neighbor residents were evacuated.
Senate party leaders meet to set a program aimed at speeding the tariff revision through Congress. Participants include Smoot of Utah as Finance chair, Watson Indiana, Robinson Arkansas, and Simmons North Carolina. Leaders fear delay may push action past the December session.
The Empress of Canada carrying more than 200 passengers ran on rocks at Albert Head in the Straits of Juan de Fuca around noon. Authorities believe the ship is badly damaged but passengers are believed safe.
Beatrice Hall 22 of 331 East Ninth Street fell from a third floor window at her home early yesterday. Detectives hold George Puening 22 of 13 West Fifteenth Street after he claimed to be passing by. A wrist watch and two rings found with Puening are believed to belong to the victim. Mrs Hall suffered a spinal injury and multiple broken ribs with little hope of recovery.
Clarence B. Andreas 29 shot his wife Gladys 27 after a long quarrel and then killed himself with a shotgun. bodies found near their Dover, Ohio residence yesterday.
A passenger, C. W. Kiel, 19, of Detroit, was killed when a plane 15 miles north of Detroit crashed after the safety belt allegedly unhooked during a loop. The pilot, Frank Wrede, 32, a police prisoner, was injured and hospitalized awaiting status review as pilot. The craft plunged about 2,000 feet.
Marion Hatch aged 28 a Lake Providence pilot and passengers H Hollingsworth 20 and Stanley Conn 16 both of Oak Grove were burned to death when the plane plunged from 2000 feet and exploded on a road near the airport.
