The Ohio State Conference of Charities and Corrections begins its sixth annual convention next Tuesday in Xenia. President Rev. Washington Gladden of Columbus gives the annual address. Supt. James Smith of the Ohio Humane Society from Cincinnati will speak on Humane Societies and Supt. Crouse of the Cincinnati Children's Home will lecture on The Work of the Children's Home. Dr. F. W. Harmon of Longview Hospital will present sixty two views.
Yesterday Charles Cravens filed suit in the Eighth Circuit against the Carter Crumes Company National Mercantile Company and the Crumes Lefton Manufacturing Company for 9000 dollars on a contract to manufacture wooden dishes. At the same time five Randol Kin suran cases were before the U S Court of Appeals with judges completing them yesterday. Arguments began in B B F Pierce receiver of the L K C R R Co v Edwardson. In another action Joseph S Cleaney and W B Cleaney of New York filed against William Bell of Guelph Canada and the Cincinnati Land Security Company for rents on a leasehold property.
The case of Wm. Truste Feld in Newport jail on perjury charges from the Scott Jackson murder trial is postponed until Seward’s case is disposed of. It is hoped he will turn State’s evidence at Seward’s trial to avoid further prosecution for his role in the fraudulent bid to cast Jackson from the law.
A slick thief worked two change rackets on Tuesday night. He first called at Lizzie Millers on Longworth Street, demanding 310 in change and flashing a payment. The Miller woman refused and he fled. About two hours later he reappeared at Fannie Cliffords on Obseeds seeking two ten dollar bills.
Agent Wm. B. Poland of Poland and Boyle reports Chicago business and politics compared with Cincinnati. He says Cincinnati leads in residence demand while Chicago shows more political talk and a strong free-silver movement. Mayer and Co. to auction the three story brick at 702 Richmond Street owned by a non resident.

Alvin Kleimeyer the defaulting secretary of the Linn Street Building Association has gone to Germany. Major Warner, his attorney, acknowledged the fact in Probate Court.
