Fire Collision In City Injures Crew As Trucks Clash
Two fire units collided at Seventh and Race streets yesterday afternoon, damaging both vehicles with losses estimated at $3,000. The Flying Squad motor truck and the hook and ladder were involved, drivers and crews uninjured aside from a lieutenant hurled from the ladder truck. Ten Men Injured as Fire Truck Collision Hurts Crew
Ten men were injured when a Sycamore Street flying squad motor crashed into Hooks No 1 horse driven ladder at Seventh and Race streets. Lieutenant Finnegan, pilot on the ladder truck, was badly hurt, hurled thirty feet and left unconscious on Seventh Street. others suffered a mix of head injuries, fractures and sprains. The accident followed two alarms for a non existent fire at City Hospital.

American guard commander Putnam arrested in Juarez
G M Putnam, who led guards at the Elephant Butte dam project near Engle New Mexico, was arrested in Juarez on a charge of killing a Mexican a year ago. He admitted the killing but was acquitted in New Mexico. The victim’s father denounced him to American police as messages went to Secretary Bryan and U S Senators seeking Mexican government release. American Consul Holward met Juarez officials over the case.

Fire Ravages Williamstown Business Block
An entire block in Williamstown Kentucky burned this morning causing estimated losses between 50 000 and 75 000 dollars. Two dry goods stores two drug stores two groceries and a photographic studio were destroyed along with eight buildings and seven families homes. Fire began in J Q Barbour studio and Covington and Dry Ridge sent engines to aid. Tobacco warehouse within the zone lost about 15000 dollars but saved. Insurance covers about 30000 dollars.

American poet Kemp to face arraignment for ship stowaway
Harry Kemp an American poet who once eloped with Upton Sinclair's wife will be arraigned before a magistrate in Southampton tomorrow. He was jailed after stowing away on the Oceanic in New York and later worked as an assistant steward aboard the ship. Kemp, penniless, said he wished to visit England and tried to land at Plymouth before being arrested.

Heavenly Vagabond Comet Seen With Telescope in Geneva
In Geneva on October 5 1952 Dr. William R. Brooks of Hobart College observed the periodic Westphalian comet with Smith Observatory telescope. The object appeared in Aquarius head, moved northwest, grew brighter, and last appeared in 1952 with a 61 year orbit.
