Richard Gould, who with two brothers started a bank in Bellwood Nebraska after leaving this county, is a fugitive. The Gould brothers were arrested for wrecking the bank. one received eighty years hard labor, another awaits trial, while Richard defaulted on his bond and is now in Mexico. They reportedly took $150,000 from local citizens to fund the bank, all lost in the wreck.
Alexandria Louisiana November 2 4 Thomas Q Planche a young lawyer from Markaville shot and killed Rizmore R Barbin. The two had quarreled Sunday night and met this morning when Planche demanded an apology which Barbin refused. Planche was sent here for safe keeping.
Owensboro Kentucky reports Miss Abigail Rowan Gillim a noted Kentucky beauty will marry George Julian Zolnay the renowned New York sculptor. The couple plans to reside in New York where Zolnay’s fame includes Hagar the witch Allan Poe Winnie Davis memorial and a University of Virginia tympanum. Gillim is a musician and artist and her father Dr W Gillim a famed surgeon. John Rowan a Kentucky politician is a maternal ancestor.
Washington reports the President names Dan Collier of Louisville to succeed Leslie M Coombs as Pension Agent at Louisville when Coombs resigns to become Minister to Guatemala and Honduras. Coombs will not depart until year start. Hunter case may prompt a Justice Department inquiry if needed.
Chicago reports Colonel James E Stuart leads postoffice probe into a mail wagon robbery at the Masonic Temple. Erwin H Fuller and E J Fuller of Minneapolis were seized while trying to dispose of 1400 dollars in postage stamps.
