A fire at The Sioux City Journal Building in Sioux City Iowa caused losses estimated from fifty five thousand to seventy five thousand dollars with seventy three thousand in insured value. The blaze started in the basement mailing room and damaged printing equipment including presses and linotype machines. Explosion on German schoolship Blucher kills ten and injures many
In Keil the boilers of the German schoolship Blucher exploded near Marwick this morning. Ten sailors died and twenty two were wounded. By nightfall ten bodies were recovered and a roll call showed no more missing. Several wounded are not expected to survive. About three hundred crew members were away on tenders maneuvering at the time.
Old banker is sentenced to five years in Federal prison
Dr F J Tygard president of Bates National Bank Butler Missouri was convicted of misapplying bank funds after the bank failed September 20 1906. Aged over 70 he pleaded guilty and received the minimum five year term in the federal penitentiary while being practically paralyzed.
