Resta Wins International Sweepstakes at Indianapolis Speedway
Dario Resta won the sixth annual International Sweepstakes covering 300 miles at Indianapolis, finishing in 3 hours 36 minutes 10.82 seconds with an 83.26 mph average. Wilbur d Alene and Ralph Mulford finished second and third. 83,000 spectators watched as four cars crashed, leaving Jack LeCain critically injured.

Bus backs over embankment kills driver in Bear Creek

The British steamer Trunkby of 2 635 tons, built 1896 for R Ropner & Co, was sunk in the Mediterranean by a submarine. The captain and crew were landed today.
