In St. Louis on May 23 a police detachment protected First Presbyterian Church as crowds gathered to glimpse Miss Alice Roosevelt. Few recognized her as she left, while about 100 women stood in rain an hour thinking she remained inside. The pastor Rev. W J McKittrick prayed for divine guidance for the President.

The jury of twelve failed to reach a verdict after fifty hours of deliberation in the case of James Gillespie Belle Seward and Carrie and Myron Barbour for Elizabeth Gillespie's murder. Eight ballots were taken with five voting for conviction and seven for acquittal. a mistrial was declared and jurors were discharged.

In Stroudsburg Pennsylvania on May 29 Rev A E Warren ex pastor of East Stroudsburg Baptist Church denies leaving the ministry. He states he preaches while running a jewelry store earning over 100 dollars monthly rather than 350 per year and laments other ministers who cannot trade and end as church paupers.
