Hind Hale heads alcohol policy under the Dry Chief, navigating prohibition era control. The figure, labeled Alcohol Czar under Andrews, shapes enforcement and regulatory approach amid restrictions and political pressure.
Mrs Mabel Walker Willebrandt testified before the Senate Campaign Funds Committee that Frank J Hale rose to control alcohol manufacture with the backing of Justine Chamberlain and that Chamberlain and Goldman prospered dramatically after associating with Hale. Hale allegedly punished investigators and hid his finances, including a hidden safe deposit box.
Bequests to Children's Hospital Bethany Home and numerous charities are listed in the will probated for Mrs. Sarah L. B. Fitch formerly of 618 Burns Avenue Wyoming. The estate valued at about 75000 includes 5000 to relatives 1000 to Mae Black and Ross Brooks and 500 to several named organizations and individuals. The residue goes equally to Ross Brooks Mae Black Hattie Howell and Frank Fitch.

George Allen Chisholm, a 35 year old Canadian war veteran, pled guilty to murdering his two young sons in Valparaiso Indiana. Judge Grant Crumpacker sentenced him to life imprisonment after considering mitigation evidence and his claims of wartime wounds affecting his mentality. The judge rejected the death penalty and noted that no man could have done what Chisholm did and remained normal.

Col Carmi A Thompson, former manager of the late Senator Frank B Willis presidential primary, files to run for United States Senator on the Republican ticket in Ohio. He cites broad requests from county Republicans and his experience in politics business and public service. If nominated in August and elected in November he pledges to advance Ohio’s high Senate standard. Thompson has held roles from Taft secretary to Interior official and state secretary and recently conducted a Philippine survey.

John V. Campbell former Republican campaign manager resigns from the campaign committee. He supported Edward Turner for governor and had aided Myers Y. Cooper in 1926. Edward Hennekes resigns as Secret Service officer from the Eighth Ward regular organization to back Nelson Schwab for county prosecutor.
Mr and Mrs James F Pycroft both about 38 and Mrs Mary E Rickerson 65 sister of Mrs Pycroft were killed instantly two miles south of Bellevue as their auto collided with a westbound Lake Shore Electric limited. Pycroft drove onto the tracks at a Columbus pike grade crossing and the interurban could not stop. The car skid 640 feet along the rails before stopping. Bodies taken to Bellevue for funeral arrangements.
The Board of Governors of the Associated Stock Exchanges will hold a routine meeting in Columbus on Friday. Eugene E. Thompson of Washington serves as president of the association, which includes Cincinnati Columbus Detroit Hartford New Orleans Philadelphia Pittsburgh St Louis and Washington exchanges.
