The ten year old girl missing for two weeks was located in a farm ravine partly clothed. The discovery raises concerns of exposure with authorities continuing investigation and autopsy planned to determine cause of death.
Tulsa, May 27 Dr Henry Van Dyke a noted author and former moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly said evolution is not yet scientifically established but when proven will harmonize with religion and lend meaning to Christian ethics He argued scientific truth does not negate faith and cited scientists like Russell Milliken and Pupin observing divine order in nature
Washington reports Senator Simmons of North Carolina stating Gov. Smith cannot be nominated at Houston and, if nominated, cannot be elected. He predicts the South unites against Smith and asserts Tammany Hall’s influence dominates Smith. Simmons backs Hull of Tennessee for the nomination. Tulsa Presbyterians urge party platforms enforcing the Eighteenth Amendment and electing ardent anti drink candidates at the General Assembly meeting.
The Federal Radio Commission ordered licenses for 162 broadcasting stations terminated effective August 1. A hearing for each applicant is set for July 9 in Washington. Most are in smaller cities with limited service. WFBE of Cincinnati was named among those to be shut down.

Reports from precinct meetings across most of the state hint at split support among Hull Smith and McLean backers as county conventions approach. Governors and senators loom as possible favorites with a state convention set for June 12 and a mass gathering planned for June 9.
Ed Carsey fifty dies from a crushed skull internal injuries after a plane piloted by Lieut. L H Scott of Marietta crashed near Athens. Second passenger Lieut. Burt Barnes injured as controls locked during takeoff causing a nose dive. Scott survived, Carsey pinned in wreckage and unconscious.
A pilot W M Bentley of the Mabel Cody Flying Circus and passenger Tommy Giles of Cochran were injured when their plane plunged about 200 feet after takeoff. Both suffered severe lacerations and multiple broken ribs and were hospitalized. A separate report from Warsaw notes a Polish military plane crash near Pulawy killed both aviators.
In Norton Kansas L L Robinson 34 restaurant owner Hill City and Carl T Peterson farmer and former sheriff shot by sheriff officers who mistook them for Lamar bank robbers in darkness. Both men hospitalized. Officers had followed a farmer boy’s claim the robbers tried to hold him up. Police and deputies fired after arriving on the highway where the two were seen.
Al Capone has become chief partner in the Sanitary Cleaning Shops Inc with a plant on Chicago's South Side. Partner Morris Becker says the firm faces racketeering and bombing and will use strong defense, while Becker accuses rivals of price fixing and coercion by an organized group.
At Witt crossing near Port Clinton Ohio George Madison and Laura Mexico both of Toledo were killed when their car was struck by a New York Central train. They were en route to Oak Harbor to visit the woman's parents. The accident marks Witt crossing third traffic death in five days following the death of William Klickman, 36, last Wednesday. In North Jackson Ohio Mrs Samuel Ellis of Akron was killed and her husband injured when their auto was struck by a Pennsylvania Railroad train.
Roy Goodwin 28 of Ann Arbor was killed instantly after a sixth lap pileup in a 100 mile race at Ft Miami. Witnesses include his wife Carrie Goodwin and daughter Darline. Whiz Sloan broke an arm, Harold Phelps escaped injury, others unharmed but damaged. Race delayed about an hour as police cleared the track.
Arctic search efforts launch after Italia disappears on polar flight. Missing crew include fifteen others. Los Angeles may deploy rescue teams as dirigible crews press to locate survivors and investigate failure.
Three young men including Harry Sexton Jesse Eden and William MacQueary confessed to a series of robberies and kidnappings. Police recovered rope a revolver a club and pistols and linked them to Holdups at Imperial Restaurant 1329 Central avenue and a Clark street robbery. They described kidnapping two victims and a high speed escape ending near Hamilton with gunfire.
Washington officials weighed using the rigid airship Los Angeles to reach the Italia crew stranded in Arctic waters. Secretary Wilbur and Navy leaders debated feasibility amid unknown location, with plans calling for Patoka support and possible hydrogen use. Naval officers noted crew could survive long if on ice or land with provisions.
Miss Louise Gardner of Boston Mass loses her life in Atlanta after a triple parachute jump fails to deploy. She rose in a balloon to 2000 feet and after two chutes opened she attempted the third but it was not attached. The fall ended when her body struck a tree and a building. Gardner was a veteran jumper with fifteen years of experience.
In Chicago on May 27 the Funeral Service Bureau of America meets amid a business slump for undertakers. They blame decreasing death rates and longer life spanned by medical science, noting overheads rising. President George Olinger of Denver voices surplus undertakers, while auto work briefly eases the burden.
Rescue plan launches from Kings Bay Spitzbergen as Citta di Milano sails to search for General Nobile and the Italia. Oslo and Rome officials report garbled calls but no confirmed sighting while Hobby sealer and Amundsen Sverdrup crews prep for extended search.
Dog teams were sent out from Kings Bay Spitzbergen as leaders of a rescue attempt for the Italia. Gen.
