A broken propeller and a near fatal incident forced Jim Kelly and R L Robbins to land after 172 hours 59 minutes of flight. The crash risk arose when a belt buckle nicked the propeller while Kelly worked under the wing. By end, crowds swarmed the field and the fliers prepared for a wash up and departure.
A Travelair cabin plane destroyed in a late yesterday crash at Watson Airport. Four occupants escaped unhurt. the $13,500 craft burned after fuel caught fire post-crash. Pilot A C Ritney and three mechanics test landed, tail snagged a tree causing nose dive. Officials note air pocket as probable cause.
The Alaska Steamship Company liner Aleutian struck a rock in Yuak Bay Kodiak Island early today and sank in deep water. Her 135 crew members and 15 passengers were rescued by the Coast Geodetic Survey Steamship Surveyor and to be taken to Seward Alaska. The ship valued at $1 million was captained by John S Nord and had two years of Alaska service after being built in Philadelphia in 1898.
Jessie White, 26, a polo instructor for Powel Crosley Jr., was critically injured when his mount fell on him during a game at Somerset, Ohio. He captained the College Hill polo team and traveled from Cincinnati with teammates. his wife and child are listed among his dependents.
In Dessau on May 26 pilot Willy Neunhofer set a world altitude record of 41000 feet flying a Junkers Bremen type aircraft. A prior oxygen tube break caused a loss of consciousness and the plane plunged about 22000 feet before he regained control.
Ambassador Dwight W. Morrow returned to Englewood New Jersey from Mexico City for a family gathering. His car bore the Spirit of St. Louis name though it was a Pennsylvania Railroad flyer. He declined to confirm Mexican reports that ex President Calles would be Col Lindberghs best man while posing for photos before returning home with Mrs. Morrow and their daughter Constance.
New York World News Service reports Evangeline Booth commander of the Salvation Army in America is confined at home in Hartsdale New York with bruises shock and brain concussion from an automobile crash last Friday. She shows slight improvement and received visitor Commander William Peart.

Fred Brandt 38 of Cincinnati Chemical Co. employee and his four year old son were pinned after Brandt swerved to avoid a zigzagging car on Camargo pike near Loveland. Brandt was scalded by radiator water with four broken ribs and possible skull fracture. boy suffered a cut under the eye and bruises.
New York May 26 Dr John Haynes Holmes of the Community Church insults Memorial Day by arguing for abolition urging focus on peace heroism over war heroes He proposes a peace memorial day with industry workers and mothers honored and a ritual of national contrition and forgiveness.
President and Mrs. Hoover attended a ceremony at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, occupying the Abraham Lincoln pew made famous by Civil War meditation. The event dedicated a new beacon tower, chimes and steeple donated by Robert Todd Lincoln’s family, with officials including Secretary Stimson and Secretary of War Good present.
Maj. Gen. Harry A. Smith aged 62 and commander of the Seventh Army Corps Area with headquarters at Fort Omaha died today in a local hospital in Omaha Nebraska.
Prominent Cincinnati figures attend the College of Medicine dedication of the C R Holmes Memorial Hospital. Dr A Bachmeyer notes modern facilities, 52 beds, and private patient access. Dr Frank Nelson honors Holmes, lauding his rise from humble beginnings to a leading physician and humanitarian. The hospital cost about half a million dollars and sits at Bethesda and Eden avenues.
Paris May 26 The deadlock at the reparations conference grows as Dr Hjalmar Schacht chief German delegate refuses to back away from demands for no commitments beyond thirty seven years He keeps insisting on this limit while Mr Owen Young American chair of the Experts Committee notes the firm stance and signals likely admission that an agreement is impossible culminating in last-ditch negotiations between the German leader and Young as creditor delegates assemble with Schacht’s list.

PAMPSVILLE Ky May 26 Carl Newton Mahan six year old killed his eight year old playmate Cecil Van Hoose after a quarrel. His father said the boy has not spoken about the shooting since about thirty minutes after the incident and claimed he would have removed the shell if he had known the gun was loaded. The child slept through the night and shows no churchgoing or school attendance history. He aspires to be a mechanic and spends time tinkering with an old Ford in the yard while photographers, friendly to the boy, give him money for a bank savings.
In Steubenville district three men died after being struck on railroad tracks today. Fred Eby 32 of Steubenville was hit by a Panhandle passenger train at a local crossing. Charles Marshall 55 of Goulds Ohio died in Goulds tunnel when struck by a Pittsburgh and West Virginia passenger train. Nick Mahlin 36 of Holidays Grove West Virginia was run down by a locomotive in the Pennsylvania yards at Weirton West Virginia.

The five by nine foot cabinet uses reflecting lenses and an invisible camera to show a scaled preview and capture seven possible poses with a button press.
