dispatches from Vera Cruz claim Huerta fled Mexico City for Puerto Mexico aboard guided by the German cruiser Dresden, with Ypiranga convoying him to German soil. Salvadoran and Honduran volunteers are offered to join Mexico against the United States as mediation hopes rise at Niagara Falls.
After Vera Cruz occupation American forces witnessed daily hydro plane flights from the water near Vera Cruz. Lieut Patrick N L Bellinger and Navy aviators have built an aviation school there. They photograph and map the surrounding country to aid any future land advance. An incident involving Mexican crossfire on a hydro plane is under U S Army investigation.
In Washington on May 26 a swarm of bees invaded the Senate Chamber as discussions on the Panama tolls continued. A Maryland farmer nearby was seen settling the swarm that had settled near the Senate restaurant, the queen guiding the workers to the government seat.
Detroit May 26 more delegates and leaders avoid commit to Colonel Roosevelt amid talks of a national plan to invite him back as presidential candidate in two years. Conference attendees emphasize supporting the party nominee, while several delegates hedge on the Roosevelt question.

Sixteen women from the Keep Well Club finished today the third installment of a fifty mile walk around Cleveland to show walking benefits. The group celebrated with a dinner and dream of hiking to the San Francisco Exposition in 1916.
Five freshmen at St. John's Military College in Annapolis were arrested for hazing cadet William K. Bowlus after a freshman room incident. They posted $1,500 bail each for June 9 hearings. Bowlus, initially thought only slightly injured, is in a hospital in dangerous condition after surgery revealed a perforating bullet.
The monster steamship Vaterland during departure sank two coal barges loaded with 500 tons each as it backed from its berth in New York. The vessel cut its way out through the slip and damaged two Morgan liners when lines snapped. No lives were lost.
Jacob A Riis the author and social worker died at his summer home in Barre Massachusetts after a long illness. He had recently left a Battle Creek sanitarium where he had heart trouble. Roosevelt called him the most useful citizen of New York for his work among the poor slum residents. Riis rose from poverty as a immigrant to observe the slums firsthand and devote his career to reform.
Former President Theodore Roosevelt arrives in Washington for a packed day. He delivers a South American expedition speech meets with Wilson aides and Progressive lawmakers visits the Smithsonian and hosts receptions amid warm crowds and photo moments.
Paris May 26 Special Cable reports a severe cold wave spreading over Southeastern Europe with several inches of snow in Southeastern France and heavy rains elsewhere. A violent Mediterranean storm drove ashore fishing boats and other craft as temperatures in Paris reached 44 degrees.
In Kansas City delegates at the General Assembly of the Southern Presbyterian Church debated whether to allow fermented wine or grape juice in communion. Rev. J S Lyons presented Savannah church’s overture on sessions choosing between options. The assembly adopted the committee recommendation granting sessions the right to choose the wine used.
Pineville Kentucky reports Happy Jack Hendrickson son and his brother Press, famed feudists, were killed in the Eccles West Virginia mine disaster. The Hendrickson father has word of exact burial spot and bodies will be exhumed for identification to secure widow and children's compensation.
Special dispatch says John D. Rockefeller’s personal property in Ohio is assessed at 311,266,347 with a tax bill around 1,556,131 at 5 per thousand. Assessors claim no record of a $5,000,000 return in Ohio, though Rockefeller says it was reported in New York.
Rev Louis R Patmont failed to appear before the grand jury and is described as near nervous breakdown due to the ordeal. He was taken by auto to the country to locate the basement house where he says he was held for almost fifty days as officers seek to verify his testimony.
