London reports indicate the vessel arrived at Genoa May 8 from Norfolk News. An Italian steamer Teresa Accame was also attacked and damaged by a submarine.

Berlin reports that the North German Gazette published a long narrative alleging brutal treatment of German prisoners of war in France. It cites mobs and camp commanders abusing prisoners, withheld clothing, poor food, wounded men used for hard labor, and forced labor in unhealthy swamps of North Africa.

Berlin May 25 The German Government took over the entire meat supply and will run distribution through a meat bureau. Prices and distribution rules will be announced after all meat provisions are unified. Preference goes to the army and citizens are urged to eat more vegetables. The food department will create new vegetable dishes to replace meat in daily meals.
