Mrs. Margaret Weaver Horton testified at Dr Arthur Warren Waite s murder trial describing Waite as a Jekyll Hyde type figure and a little man from Egypt claiming the insane state may have influenced his acts. Waite listened pale as his wife Mrs Waite sat nearby in mourning while alienists awaited rebuttal.
A May 24 dispatch claims a 450 foot German supersubmarine bound for New York will start a passenger mail and freight service between Germany and the United States. It says a fleet of five subs will challenge Britain’s naval dominance, carrying ten passengers and 50 tons of freight with Germans paying $5,000 per passenger.

Washington May 24 The Senate Foreign Relations Committee favors Senator Kern’s resolution asking the Secretary of State to assess safety of Americans in Ireland where martial law is in effect. The measure asks consular reports on American welfare and steps to protect lives and property. Kilgallon, 17, a US citizen and St Endas School pupil in Dublin, remains jailed. Sinn Fein leader John MacNeill has been found guilty by a court martial. sentence to follow.
Malcolm Henderson, 37, of Cleveland, is in Charity Hospital with both legs broken after leaping from a Big Four Railroad trestle to avoid an approaching train. Ambulance physicians say his grip on a dinner pail containing two large lemon pies caused him to jump, though he could have saved himself by holding the trestle.
