A Columbus dispatch reports Governor Cox plans to split Republican factions by offering progressive leaders patronage to stay unaligned. Names of prominent political figures are circulating as Cox seeks to keep progressives separate to influence the party unity.
Special Cable from London reports George Bronson Rea of the Chinese National Railway Corp arriving with Dr Sun Yat Sen's power of attorney to borrow 500 million dollars for 10000 miles of railroad in China within 15 years. Rea doubts old financial groups and cites Wilson's withdrawal of support as a barrier. Sun and Yuan Shih Kai are central figures shaping Chinese finance and governance as Europe eyes balance of power and American ideas.
Two company checks tied to the Lawrence dynamite conspiracy case were traced to the American Woolen Company offices. Checks for 505 and 2100 dated 1912 were issued under Wood's authority to Frederick E. Atteaux, with vouchers approved by Wood. Treasurer Dwelley testified the payments were directed by Wood as part of alleged efforts to settle the strike.

Mrs. Cora Virginia Evans Morrison Fletcher now Mrs. R L Fletcher of Columbus Ohio declares love outweighs wealth and forfeited estate valued at 450000 as she honeymooning in Chicago with her electrical contractor husband. The couple eloped with no objections and describe their bond as deeper than money.
The Japanese Embassy reports no new Tokyo instructions on California alien land law talks. Ambassador Chinda did not meet the State Department and no appointment was made. Meanwhile Emperor Yoshihito’s serious illness absorbs attention in Tokyo and Washington as court mourning for Emperor Meiji continues.
Royal guests gathered in Berlin for the May 24 wedding of Princess Victoria Luise to Prince Ernst of Cumberland. The Kaiser hosted a lavish Lohengrin performance with stars from Berlin and New York, amid heavy security and diplomatic engagements.
New York plans for 1914 and 1915 celebrate a century of peace among English speaking peoples. A Queen Victoria statue will be erected in Washington under a women’s committee. A Lincoln statue will be presented to Britain, by American committee members inspired by British visitors.
