Business Agent James B Barry demands reinstatement of all men except those guilty of violence and says the union will not return without them. New York May 23 The Merchants' Trust Company of New York City was closed by the State Superintendent of Banks on request of the Attorney General Douglas Robinson receiver named. Loans totaled about 1 250 000 with assets including 850 000 in Hudson Valley Railroad securities and 400 000 to Rutland Street Railroad and Chittenden Development. Depositors owe about 2 200 000. available assets about 1 300 000, needing 950 000 to pay deposits. Stockholders liable for 500 000. sufficient to cover deposits with that amount. No further business allowed after directors met. The crowd waited outside as the Bank Examiner halted operations.
