A Filipino robber attacked Americans including Mrs. Walter P. Linton in a reported street incident. Police are investigating the assault and seeking witnesses.
The semi annual report by Superintendent Laidlaw shows the water department will need about 650 000 for the next six months an increase from 604 695 95 for the first half The raised funds cover new staff including an assistant superintendent of distribution and a storekeeper The program includes Herrmann park improvements near the filtration plant about 15 000 and a roughly fourteen mile mains extension If Delhi expands water service another 100 000 will be funded by a special bond issue Engineer Kerry may be appointed to oversee the new work at Herrmann park salary 125 per month
In Chicago on May 20 an elderly man, Eugene Wallace, found a small caliber revolver in the street and used it to shoot and kill his 9 year old playmate, John Andeny, at school while they were playing. Teachers arrived to find the boy cradling the body.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Conrad M Semler former director of public safety now living in Pittsburg. Semler is a witness in a lawsuit involving his wife and sister over the Semler homestead. The forgery charges stem from a check transaction years ago. The grant was signed by Charles.

The motion announced miners back of their committee. The strike affects the entire state and involves about 73 000 miners with a strike fund around 700 000 dollars or ten dollars per man.
Washington May 20 A sensational House incident focused on Representative Butler Ames Massachusetts who read letters between himself and Representative Sereno B Payne New York chairman of the ways and means committee. The letters attacked Payne for blocking Ames resolution seeking closer commercial relations with Canada. Payne defended his actions saying he discussed the petition with supporters and that he would not alter tariff decisions this session.
Ohio senator denounces navy plans as trenchment and warns the country is going wild. Roosevelt cited as peace advocate urges food for the poor while three senators push opposition to naval plans and military spending.
John Murphy a 28 year old burglar, shot by George J. Schlichte a Ninth and Linn streets grocer and school board member, after Murphy allegedly burglarized the store. Murphy was hospitalized with a bullet wound to the liver. Schlichte claimed self defense. Police questioned both sides and did not detain Schlichte as evidence pointed to a justifiable act.
