Refugees arriving at Hagel Pass report widespread destruction of American property in Guadalajara. Stores looted and homes stripped while Americans were beaten. A Guadalajara businessman said Americans were forced to flee the city with families, aiming for the border. A party of 150 Spaniards departed for Havana to be cared for by the Spanish Government after expulsion from Torreon by General Villa.
Charles Clark a 26 year old escapee from Ohio Penitentiary clung by fingers to a second floor window sill on North Grant avenue in Columbus. Police officer Pinkerman used a skeleton key to gain entry, seized Clark by the wrists and pulled him inside as the prisoner hesitated before surrendering.
