Tragic Break Ends East Auto Race Opening
At Sheepshead Bay during the Metropolitan trophy race Carl Limberg and his mechanic R Pallotti died after Limberg's Delage axle failed and the car plunged down a thirty foot embankment catching fire. Eddie Rickenbacker won the 150 mile event with J Devigne second Ira Vail third. Aiken and Mulford set a world record in the Coney Island cup at twenty miles.
