Dublin May 12 James Connolly commander in chief of the Irish Republican Army and John McDermott an Sinn Fein leader were shot to death in Dublin as officials announced. Premier Asquith visited Ireland to review conditions after the uprising and martial law is expected to end. General Maxwell reported the rebellion's progress and a court martial was ordered over the killing of Sheehy Skeffington. Archbishop Walsh declined to name priests honored for gallantry.

Dispatches say 80 000 Ottoman troops under German officers reached the front in a week, boosting total Turkish forces to about 200 000 in Asia Minor. Berlin reports Field Marshal von Mackensen now leads Turko German forces in Asia Minor.
