William Thie proprietor of the William Thie Baking Company was shot in his kitchen after a burglary attempt at his Westwood home 3241 Epworth avenue. Detectives believe robbery motive. 15-year-old son witnessed escape as two or three assailants fled in a waiting car. A neighbor saw the vehicle across the street and a nervous man later dined hurriedly at a West End restaurant, marking a bill with 34.
