Lexington May 9 Twenty eight thoroughbreds valued at at least a quarter of a million dollars were burned to death when a fire destroyed the racing stable owned by Johnson N Camden former United States Senator and J C Milam prominent breeder at the Lexington track Lightning is believed to have caused the blaze Six horses were rescued by track officials and nearby attendants Miss Humphrey Louis Adair and three unnamed fillies were saved Rankoon Bettina and Darjeeling were among the victims Mojave and Miss Humphrey were noted as the fastest two year olds in the stable.
