In Pittsburg on May 8, 4500 workers at Westinghouse Airbrake collapsed the strike when 4000 employees reported to the Wilmerding plant. Negotiations continue with remaining strikers, while the plant reopens tomorrow and many expect further mediation to be rejected. About 80 percent of local mills resume operations after a week of shutdowns.

Youngstown Ohio May 8. With the second week of local strike action continuing to threaten a wider tie up Mayor Thornton weighs calling from Columbus Fred C Croxton a state mediator. Croxton had previously settled the labor trouble in January.
Albany dispatch reports the Schenectady Railway Company employees ended a thirty six hour walkout as arbitration settled the dispute and workers returned to service.
In London on May 8 the Irish question rose again in the House of Commons as Laurence Ginnell criticized the government over the execution of Dublin uprising leaders. Premier Asquith refused to promise no further executions before parliamentary debate, prompting Ginnell to shout murder.
