President Taft plans an eight day campaign in Ohio starting Monday, visiting all major cities with about one hundred speeches, ending in Cincinnati with a Day ton address before returning to Washington. He attacks Roosevelt and Dixon over arbitration treaties and accuses trusts of price manipulation while praising universal peace efforts.
President Taft closed his home state tour with a lengthy address at Memorial Hall attacking Colonel Roosevelt on over a dozen points from his rival’s speeches. He accused Roosevelt of misrepresentation and warned voters of supposed influence by Roosevelt on Taft’s actions, defending prosecutions against the Steel and Harvester trusts and scrutinizing Perkins as a major Roosevelt contributor. He argued oil price and stock rises reflected natural economic trends, not improper motives.
Negotiations near completion as Sinton hotel group aims to buy or lease the Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone building at Vine Street and Baker alley. The telephone company seeks a large property east of Main Street for a modern office building. This marks one of the city’s largest real estate deals in years, with potential linking by bridging the alley.

The Commercial Tribune reports Taft ahead of Roosevelt by nearly 2 to 1 in a postal card poll in Ohio. Up to May 5 Taft 4 916 Roosevelt 2 660 with votes increasing daily as more mail comes in.
William Gilbert resigns from the park commission to devote his time to private affairs. He will not submit to dictation and is said to have no political aspirations.
