Detective Chief Kaiser announced the arrest of Glenn T. Hicks and two others in the murder of Clifford M. Hicks a lawyer and former minister. Glenn allegedly knew of the crime and aided a plan involving the murder and a stolen bond deal.
In Los Angeles on May 5, counsel for Charlie Chaplin announced that Lita Grey Chaplin would settle her divorce suit for 1.25 million dollars. The figure was disclosed in a formal statement by Chaplin's lawyers Lloyd Wright and Charles F. Millikan, countering claims that Chaplin would not settle out of court.
Bryan Ohio May 5 Former Citizens State Bank president I D Claudon of Pioneer pleaded guilty to forgery and embezzlement and was sentenced to four years in the Ohio Penitentiary. P. E. Throne, the cashier, pleaded guilty to making false entries and his sentence was deferred.

Grief over the death of his wife after almost a half century of wedded life led George Schuckman, 70, of Three Mile Pike, Mt. Washington, to end his life yesterday. His body was found in a well on his farm by his daughter Mrs Flora Koehler of California Ohio. Koehler was managing the twenty acre farm and found the scene after entering the house and noting a basin of blood. Albert Schuckman, a son, and neighbors were summoned. Dr Harry Behymer said he had been dead about an hour and that the suicide followed wrist cuts and a planned jump into the well. He leaves nine children.

A New York bank messenger, Jules Bernam 37, employed by Taylor Bates Co, vanished after taking a $100 000 certified check to acquire stock certificates. He left the National Bank of Commerce with certificates from National Motor Co Texas Gulf Oil Vacuum Oil Woolworth Kress and Central Can. He is married with two children and a general alarm is out.
